The Story of Payton Garcia Garden
Nestled in the heart of Indianapolis, Payton Garcia Botanical Garden was founded with a vision to preserve nature’s beauty, celebrate plant diversity, and inspire a deeper connection to the natural world.
Originally a privately curated green space, the garden opened to the public in 2004 and quickly grew into a beloved destination for families, students, and garden lovers of all ages.
Over the years, it has evolved into a dynamic living museum, home to more than 2,500 plant species, themed gardens, walking trails, and seasonal exhibits – about native Indiana flora, every visit offers something new to discover.

Meet Our Manager – Mayson Patterson
Mayson Patterson, the heart behind Payton Garcia Garden’s growth, brings over 15 years of botanical and environmental leadership to her role as garden manager.
With a background in horticulture and sustainable landscape design, Mayson has championed community-led garden programs, biodiversity education, and the expansion of native plant exhibits.
Her dedication to blending science with beauty makes every garden path not just scenic, but meaningful.
